Step by step, the Bolloré Group is pursuing the construction of the rail loop. On March 19 it took more than 200 people on a ride from Cadjèhoun Saint Jean station to Central Station Cotonou, both completely renovated.
Today the Group announced for the coming weeks, the circulation of an intercity passenger train between Cotonou and Pahou. Given its achievements (Central Station of Cotonou, the construction of the Zongo Bluezone, the construction of the railway between Dosso and Niamey), it is admitted that suiting actions to words and meeting commitments are the Bolloré Group’s driving force; therefore we can expect fine days for the revival of railway in Benin.
“The Cotonou Pahou-axis is the first section on which we are working and will allow fast enough recovery in passenger traffic,” said Benoît du SOUICH, CEO of the group in Benin. Improving mobility in Cotonou and its suburbs is fully aligned with the agenda of the Rail Loop Project. Pending the rehabilitation of the railway line Cotonou-Parakou, the Bolloré Group is considering the circulation of a passenger train between Cotonou and Pahou, a town about twenty kilometers of the economic capital.
An expert mission is under way to view the item and pathways that are involved in this traffic.
The commissioning of the passenger train will be a breath of fresh air for thousands of people who face daily road traffic congestion to the center of Cotonou.
