As part of Christmas celebration, the reflection and citizen action club «Les tresseurs de cordes» invited the children to address the citizenship issue.
A hundred of children from public and private schools in Benin have been brought together in the Bluezone multipurpose room. Aged from 10 to 15, these teenagers were enlightened on the morals and ethics values that form the development basis of a country.
In a lively and joyful atmosphere, and under the leadership of ConstanceKPAMEGAN, president of organizing committee, the guest speakers stressed that it is important to have knowledge of one’s country and its history. The topics for discussions include:The history of Benin, its symbols, geographical composition, its institutions, their roles and functioning, etc. Henceforth, these children could express their gratitude to their homeland, as they have been appointed «Ambassadorsof the citizenship». The day was marked by workshops of writing, drawing and fashion.The singer Miss Espoir has also enlivened the audience through her performance.
The association «Les tresseurs de cordes», founded by Benin diaspora offer, from now, children of Benin a road toward development. Among the participants of this first edition, some were appointed leaders, on the basis of the results of tests through they have proven to be successful. Their missions: to representall the other Beninese children through citizenship actions and in debates on TV, up to the next edition of « Christmas of the citizen child».
