Known and popular in other countries, the game of petanque is not yet at the height of his practice in a country where football has established itself as king of sports. However, since 6 April, the Bluezone unveiled its area dedicated exclusively to the bowling alley. Once the next few days, the bowling lovers can roll the ball in good conditions of practice. For those who do not know what it is, it is given the opportunity to discover, enjoy and why not to bring to light petanque champions of Zongo Bluezone.
By opening its doors to the public for the opening ceremony, the Bluezone unveiled its petanque court. Located in the playground between the basketball court and the block of buildings formed by the multi-business room and listening center, the rectangular field bordered with blue and white stripes is devoted to this discipline.
The first competition took place there on April 6th to the great delight of practitioners who, for once, have a space dedicated to bowling in the district of Zongo and even in the city of Cotonou. “We usually squat lanes for most of the time unsuitable for this game,” said Vivien, bowling national champion of 2007 edition. “This space meets the standards and is a real opportunity for practitioners to improve their skill and a school intended to be emulated” he concluded.
The choice of this discipline by the Bluezone is not at all accidental. The initiative is also welcomed by Mr. Bouraima, professor of physical education and sports. “The youth of today lack of concentration, self-control and patience; these values are learned in bowling practice” he assured.
