The « Lions club Cotonou phare doré» donated about sixty school kits to school girls coming from poor families.
Established in June 2014, the “Lions Club” is a corporate club consisting mainly of volunteers of the Bolloré Group, but also executives of large companies and institutions (UBA BANK, CFAO, NOVOTEL, Talent Plus) and academics. The Club organizes fundraising and encourages volunteerism for social actions.
This association has many ambitions, especially for the education of girls. It is for this purpose that it was launched at the Bluezone Zongo the second edition of “Operation Every Girl of School Age Must Go to School”.
Therefore members of this club gave school kits to around sixty girls selected by the YWCA (Young Women Christian Association). In addition to the school kits provided to them, the girls of the second cycle of secondary school benefit from financial support to cover their tuition fees, and expenses related to home tutorial and their registration for baccalaureate exam.
According to the spokeswoman of the organization, Clotilde Noudéviwa Dédji, this sponsorship was so successful that it helped 65% of 57 sponsored girls to pass the exam. She acknowledged the support provided by partner institutions and all the stakeholders in the education system involved in the initiative.
Very pleased and deeply moved, the girls through their representative Noëlle Aliagne, a student in class literary from CEG Plateau, expressed deep gratitude to their benefactors. The Club President, Henri ARABA, encouraged them to study earnestly and to improve their success rate this year in order to encourage good people to continue their actions.
